I actually laughed when I saw that tidbit in your original post.
Do they actually think that tired ploy still works?  It was
cliche' at least 15 years ago at best.  After the glut of
"collectible" comic books and trading cards and even toys
with multiple variant, foil stamped, holographic, embossed,
laser etched, printed in blood, dipped in Holy water and
blessed by God almighty him/herself that flooded the market
and caused a once healthy niche to crash and burn leaving
hordes of casual "investors" and fanboys alike with piles
of glimmering, gleaming worthless paper.  The key in "collectible"
is scarcity not gimmicks.  If you print a bazillion copies of
the "collectible" polybagged Death of Superman and everyone and
their Auntie June has one there's no secondary market and no
demand, thus no collectors.  You know damn well they'll make
plenty of these HL DVDs with the "collectible foil packaging".
Plenty enough to satisfy the miniscule demand and plenty more
to languish in the clearance bins until the second coming so
why even hype that kind of BS?  Do we get a special "Producers Cut"
this time as well?  In all my history of viewing and renting
movies to people I have never seen this term used outside of HL.
The "Director's Cut" yes.  That's a given.  A Producer's Cut
would be the version you don't want to see in most realities.
This is often why the "Director's Cut" started.  Because the
Producer's took the final edit away from the people who made it.
It's a twisted world and fandom we live in.
