There's much to be said for hot water, up to the neck. I swear I must 
have been a tropical fish in a previous life - hot water always makes 
me feel better.  In south central Scotland it's not so much how low 
the temperatures get (just above freezing today) that makes you cold - 
it's the damp.  Even when it's not raining, the air is so thick with 
moisture it would probably count as "fog" in other parts of the world. 
  That moisture seeps through clothing and into the muscles and joints,
making you feel chilled to the bone and it's awfully hard to warm up 
again.
