Mikey investigates a truck full of empty water containers. The water
containers fall. The truck's driver is upset. Mikey says he doesn't
like it when people yell at him and walks away. Duncan and Richie
pick up all the containers.

While they do that, Mikey finds a miniature train that runs on tracks
through the park. It looks like the Orient Express. The Immortal who
killed Alan finds Mikey at this point. "You like trains," says the
K'Immie with pretended friendliness. "I know a place where you can
ride trains all day," the stranger continues. Mikey ignores him,
climbs aboard the lead car and releases the brake saying "King of
trains!" The train starts to roll a bit. The man who normally drives
the train says "Hey, what are you doing to my train?" Richie and
Duncan arrive on the scene and retrieve Mikey. "You could have broken
it!" the driver says reproachfully. "But he didn't," says Richie.
The driver says that Mikey should be locked up somewhere. "It's not
even the real Orient Express!" Mikey accuses. "Come on, Mikey. Let's
go," says Richie leading him away.

When Mikey enters the dojo he stops a fencing match and asks if the
man who is losing is okay. "It's just a game," Richie tells him.

After a discussion about what to do with Mikey, Richie says that he's
leaving, but Mikey can stay and help Duncan. Mikey says that he's a
good helper. Duncan tries to question Mikey again about his previous
living situation, and Mikey disgorges more info about trains. They
feel a buzz. Duncan tells Mikey to stay in the loft and it will be
all right.

Mikey does try to interfere between Duncan and the Immortal who's
after Mikey, but Duncan tells him to get out of the dojo. Mikey runs
into the street. Duncan pursues leaving his defeated opponent on the
floor.

Mikey wanders and gets run over by a cop car. He attacks the cops
when they check on him saying "you hurt me!" They handcuff Mikey and
put him in the car. Duncan comes on the scene and watches Mikey being
taken away.

Mikey is rocking back and forth in his jail center when Duncan and
Richie come to bail him out. He starts going on about the Trans-
Siberian Railroad, but is non-responsive to Duncan and Richie until
Richie displays the model train he bought Mikey. "The Zephyr," he
says. Richie also got him an engineer's cap. Mikey puts it on his
head and starts talking about the Zephyr's stops as they lead him out
of the cell.

Richie says he found a school called St. Simon's that will take Mikey
which is on holy ground. Mikey says he doesn't want to go without
Richie. Then when Duncan bribes him with a trip to a switching yard
on the way, Mikey becomes enthusiastic.

Mikey is over the moon about the switching yard. "Freight cars!" he
exclaims. Then Richie says they would travel near McMahon Pass where
the Coast Starlight goes through a tunnel on its way to Los Angeles.
"Let's go!" says Mikey. Then there's a buzz. It's the K'immie
again. "Bad man!' says Mikey. Richie shepherds Mikey away while
Duncan fights the K'Immie.

Meanwhile the cops come after Mikey for "murdering some folks outside
of Greenfield." The murders of which Mikey is accused are probably
those of Alan and Helen. Mikey won't stop when he's told to do it by
a cop. "Please don't shoot," pleads Richie. "I can handle this."
Richie asks Mikey to get on the ground, but Mikey attacks and kills
the cops.

Mikey runs back to the switching yard followed by Richie. Richie
assures Mikey that they would leave soon, but when Duncan sees the
dead cops he realizes that their plans for Mikey aren't possible
anymore. Duncan asks Mikey about what had happened to his previous
caretakers and this time he gets an answer. A bad man had killed Alan
and Mikey had "made Helen quiet". Then she wouldn't get up. Richie
finally understands that Mikey has come to the end of the line. He
says that he'll take care of it. Mikey is his responsibility. He
takes Mikey into the tunnel under McMahon Pass ostensibly to look at
the Coast Starlight. When Mikey goes into the tunnel, Richie draws
his sword and says he's sorry. "I didn't want to hurt anyone," says
Mikey. "I know you didn't," says Richie sadly. The train is coming
and Mikey makes a decision. He lays his head on the track and says
he's going to see the King of Trains. Richie stands against the
tunnel wall as the train beheads Mikey.

End lecture. Questions next.
