Re Heath Ledger-- He was a favorite of mine. Did anyone see his
series, Roar? It was ancient Celts vs. Romans. One of the Roman
villains was immortal. And of course Heath Ledger played the leading
Celtic rebel.
I will really miss him. He should have had a bright future. But
judging from the article in Jerri's post, he got deeply into the
psyches of his characters and he paid a high price for that. It
sounds like an accidental death caused by an inability to integrate
the experience of playing his most recent role. It sounds to me like
a real life equivalent of fighting a dark quickening.
Johnny Depp just played Sweeney Todd. I expect that he must
externalize his roles to a great degree rather than identify
completely with them. That's much easier on one's mental
equilibrium.
