Woke up this morning ... it was humid and in the 40s ... now it's
SNOWING and 18F with the wind blowing a gale. Since I broke my glasses
last night, I had to get out to Lenscrafters to get them fixed, so I
got the full gamut of weather, while listening to the only radio
station my car radio receives anymore, featuring Rush Limbaugh. His
political views are not so much diametrically opposed to my own, as
they are in a whole other universe. We know, from studying our
Highlander, that the multiverses are indeed different kinds of
animals.
I stopped at HyVee to pick up a Powerball ticket and some sustaining
comestibles, and the checkout lady told me to find a war spot and stay
there the rest of the day. Good advice. A sad note: HyVee no longer
rents DVDs for 98cents on Monday and 99cents on Tuesday. $1.98 and
$1.99, respectively. I am both bewitched, bothered, and bewildered by
this change.
I saw GWBush give his final State of the Union address last night. I
took note of who jumped to their feet and clapped, who merely clapped,
and who sat primly with their hands folded in their laps. It was worth
the candle just to watch the opposing parties stare each other down.
Members of the Supreme Court sat, emotionless and motionless ...
probably still in shock that they gave this man the presidency back
when.
