Ahh, but that is actually the *second* holiday in February, at least
this year. Don't forget about Groundhog Day on Saturday, when
Punxatawney Phil pokes his poor fuzzy head out of his hole and
foretells six more weeks of gloom or cheer. I think he's as accurate
as most meteorologists at predicting weather, and since Groundhog Day
is the mid-point between the winter solstice and the vernal equinox,
they've all got a 50/50 chance.
I'm not much of a football fan (or a fan at all, in truth), but living
in New England it's been impossible to escape the hype about the
Patriots, and it would be something to see them win the Super Bowl
undefeated. My husband was a Giants fan in his youth, so he is
actually interested in the game. I spent most of my career in
advertising, so I really do enjoy watching the commercials, and
wondering how on earth any company could spend so much money to create
so many ads that are awful. I expect I will curl up in front of the TV
with some pepperoni pizza and a big bowl of popcorn, with a few
magazines on hand for when I get bored with the game.
