I'm having serious problems with my new laptop, so I haven't visited
ATH in two months. (Yes, my computer problems have been going on that
long and, unfortunately, will continue for the foreseeable future.)
Anyway, I can't tell if this has been addressed before on ATH, so if
I'm repeating information already posted, I apologize.
FOX is premiering a new TV series called "New Amsterdam" soon. The
similarities with H:TS are just too much. The hero is immortal (read
Duncan Macleod). A Native American woman (read Little Deer) gave the
hero immortality for saving her life in 1642 (exactly 20 years after
Duncan became Immortal). Today he is a homicide detective in New York
City. His closest friend, the only person who knows of his
immortality, is the gray-haired, bearded owner of a jazz club (read
Joe Dawson). The detective's female partner doesn't know his secret
(read Randi MacFarland). The hero falls in love with an ER doctor
(read Anne Lindsey). The possible romance is very important to the
hero: he will remain immortal until he finds true love, at which time
he will become mortal again. (He finds immortality a curse). The show
uses flashbacks, but I don't know to what extent.
Does all this sound familiar? Someone has definitely watched, and
studied, H:TS.
FWIW,
