Actually, it sounds like a cross between HL and Forever Knight.
Duncan doesn't consider immortality a curse. In fact, he argues with
Brian Cullen about that issue. Nick Knight and his new clone Mick
are the ones who consider themselves cursed. If they could have been
cured by true love, however, I imagine they would have been. So New
Amsterdam is a synthesis that combines elements from various sources.
I will withhold judgment about New Amsterdam until I've seen it.
