I just ran thru the first series of "Torchwood".  Seems I had all the
eps all along but for some odd reason either BBC America or my SAT
provider decided to skip the numbers 5 & 6 and replace the numbering
on every ep since with a wrong one that's 2 numbers forward of the
actual show number.  Thus making eps 5 & 6 into eps 7 & 8 and every
consecutive show after also wrong numbered including the new series
which I'm 3 eps into at the mo.  "Torchwood" is generally good fun
and scattered episodes are quite excellent.  It's more or less
"X-Files" Lite.  My biggest problem with it is the ***uality that is
shoehorned into it seemingly as an afterthought.  I'm no prude, quite
the opposite really, but it's sometimes so awful and heavy handed
that it's literally painful to watch.  This brings me out of my
suspension of disbelief far faster and harder than any sci fi
mumbo jumbo or goofy monster.  Apparently every single person on
the Torchwood team is bi***ual which is just...retarded.  It is of
course a spin-off of the new "Doctor Who" series and they do
cross over a fair bit so I would watch the first couple of series
of the new Who before tackling "Torchwood" or you'll miss alot of
background on Jack and the Torchwood Institute itself.  Another
plus is in series 2 of the show James "Spike" Marsters becomes
a recurring character that rivals his old Buffy character.
