Except presumably without a Gregor-alike acting as a foil/contrast and
providing a secondary storyline.
Subtract other immortal characters from HL, and the eps you're left
with are "The Zone" and "Bad Day in Building A" -- not exactly HL's
****ning moments. You can't have larger-than-life protagonists without
larger-than-life antagonists. You can play with other kinds of
conflict, but a show about a cop tends to devolve into person
vs. person, and that needs to be balanced. Other immortals (or
something equivalent -- supervillians, demons, vampires, whatever)
allow for balanced conflict and dramatic tension. These guys either
need to introduce some kind of "others" on an accelerated timetable,
or they'll have a really boring show.
