Ah, if one steers this thread in an even more wayward direction and extends

the topic to in- as well as out-houses, a trip around today's Europe can
be 
an adventure.

In some places after tendering a small sum you will receive a handle to
open 
the door to the said facility together with regulation 6 feet of necessary

implement (NOT a moist towelette!).

In some places, including a provincial theatre, the toilet paper is 
*outside* the stall. You simply have to estimate the eventual need and
tear 
off the required length.

It was only an over-estimation by the previous user that saved me from a 
major embarrassment when, following another egg salad sandwich and not 
knowing the custom, I charged into the facility at the half-way point of
the 
first night of a Tennesee Williams play...
