Highlander Character Seminar: Richie Ryan in Leader of the Pack

We first see Richie doing accounting on the computer in the dojo
office. He tells Duncan "You break even around the time of the Second
Coming." When he sees Duncan putting away books he wonders if Duncan
is taking a class. Duncan tells Richie that he's teaching a graduate
seminar on medieval armor and weapons. Richie thinks that it's not a
very practical subject. Duncan talks about learning to read when he
was fifty, and Richie says he probably walked ten miles through the
snow. "Both ways" they say together.

In the next scene Richie is buying a hot dog from a street vendor when
he sees Mark Roszca, the mortal thief who killed Tessa and brought
about Richie's own first death in "The Darkness". He experiences a
flashback to those events. Then he seizes Roszca and attacks him.
Roszca extricates himself and runs. Richie pursues him to the
apartment where Roszca is living with his girlfriend. He pounds on
the door and eventually busts into the apartment. He starts
struggling with Roszca saying that Roszca killed a friend of his.
Roszca says that he never killed anyone. Richie continues his attack
as Roszca's girlfriend begs him to stop. When the police arrive they
demand that Richie stop attacking Roszca. "This guy's a murderer!"
Richie tells them. As he's taken into police custody Richie shouts
"Her name was Tessa Noel. Check it out."

Next Richie is at the police station with Mark Roszca. Duncan arrives
and Richie tells him "That's the punk who killed Tessa." He says that
the police don't believe him. Duncan tries to support Richie's
accusation, but the detective in charge isn't buying it because the
report says there were no witnesses. The detective tells Roszca he's
free to go and tells Richie that Roszca has no priors, but Richie has
a juvenile record. He wishes Roszca would charge Richie with battery,
but he didn't. Roszca says he understands how mistakes can happen.
Duncan steers Richie out of the police station before he gets in any
more trouble.
