Torchwood quickly makes it clear that not *all* aliens are monsters --
it's just the aliens that act like monsters that they have to deal
with.  The show explicitly compares aliens to people.  It's the ones
that cause trouble that are the problem.  Remember that this is a
spinoff of a series whose star is an alien friend of Earth, who saved
Earth many times.  :)

And not all episodes involve alien monsters.  Some involve alien
artifacts being misused by humans, or humans doing monstrous things
and being mistaken for aliens, or humans who have been -- well, you'll
see.  :)
