Yeah I've heard that they seem to only be taking a word out here and
there.

I've never really seen it as a kids show.  Just a Sci Fi Adventure show
and I started watching it in my teens.  I think especially now that it's
aimed at a broad audience.  I can also say that I think the new Who
which is presumably aimed at a young audience is far more mature than
Torchwood which alot of the time is actually juvenile in tone.  I just
finished watching Series 1's "Dalek" and "Father's Day" which were very
emotionally weighty and touching which is something that I don't think
Torchwood has pulled off successfully yet.  I also think Torchwood
suffers from too many central characters.  New Who focuses on just two
most of the time.  There are many background characters like the
respective families but they are just there to help colour in the
main two.
