Google finds that Joseph Malozzi, executive producer of Stargate
Atlantis, seems to be taking some level of direct credit for the ep:
So we spun both stories and I took part one, while Alan headed off
with part two.

Don't know if the "I took part one" means that he wrote it himself, or
just that he involved himself more personally at a management level.
The reference was apparently deliberate:
Originally, there were three scenes, but I ended up marrying the
last two in editing. Todd's "There can be only one." - Hello to you
Highlander fans. The wraith are big fans.
IMDB does not find a connection between Joseph Malozzi and HL. Could
be that he has an undo***ented connection, or maybe he's a fan in the
right location. Stargate Atlantis is filmed in Vancouver, which
increases the probability that Joseph Malozzi was involved in HL
himself or knows someone else who was.
