Hy-Vee no longer has a video rental department, but one of those red
kiosks that rent for $1/night. With a disappointingly small selection.
We are bereft.
Hy-Vee does have a selection of "personal" decorated cakes in the same
cases with their decorated birthday and wedding cakes ... for $2.99.
you can have a taste of wedding cake without bothering to hold a
wedding. A good thing to know for those who crave the thick icing
without having a groom or a date in mind.
The Hy-Vee ad that came in this morning's paper is good for 2 weeks. I
took note of this after seeing the many Easter-type hams in the ad
pages. I shall, myself, be seeking the traditional ham salad for my
own Easter enjoyment. Not that I truly celebrate Easter, because (a) I
am not Christian and (b) First Irish Setter Bridget was put to sleep
on Easter morning some years ago which kind of put the hex on
Christian holidays of any ilk. In this tradition, we note that 2nd
Irish Setter Brandy was diagnosed with mega esophagus on Christmas Eve
some years ago, which caused us to celebrate Christmas Dinner with hot
dogs instead of the traditional lasagna the next day.
I have come to the conclusion that I should either read those books
telling me how to make a fortune as a writer or I should actually
begin writing, and I should begin now. Regardless, it's time to more
or less bow out of ATH for a while. Again. For what it's worth.
That's the plan. E-mail is always welcome.
