It's not as if the tales of immortals originated with Gregory Widen,
either.

Robert A Heinlein's novel Methuselah's Children was published in 1958, but

dates back to short stories he wrote in the late 40's. His follow-up, Time

Enough for Love, appeared in 1973

I'm pretty sure there were vampire stories well before Forever Night as 
well.

Hell, even Shakespeare took his inspiration from others.
