I remember Casca.  I had a boss who was a huge Casca fan who kept me
supplied with Casca books.

There was a science fiction author who wrote under the name of Lee
Killough who did a series of stories about immortals that were
collected in an anthology called Aventine.  I think it must be out of
print by now.  The anthology was released in 1981 and the stories
appeared in magazines in the '70s.  Obscure enough for you?

Of course to mention an obvious series, there were the Lazarus Long
novels by Heinlein.  All of them appeared before Highlander.  Lazarus
Long first appeared in 1941.
