When Kenny runs into the emergency room with an arm covered with
blood, he encounters Dr. Anne who says she'll examine him. When Anne
has a look at the arm, she sees that his arm has healed and realizes
that Kenny is Immortal. She takes him to the chapel and asks someone
to call Duncan. Kenny is upset with Anne when Duncan arrives. Anne
is shocked by Duncan's cynical attitude toward Kenny. She says that
Duncan has to help Kenny. "He's only a little kid." Duncan explains
that Kenny is really 800 years old.
Later Anne comes to the loft to check on Kenny. Duncan introduces
Anne and Amanda to each other. "The doctor," says Amanda, and she's
aware that Anne is pregnant too. She offers Anne decaffeinated
coffee. Anne says that she wants regular coffee because "caffeine
isn't high on the hit list".
After Duncan takes Kenny downstairs for a talk, Anne comments that
"he" seems different around Amanda and that "he" could open up to
Amanda. "Well, I'm sure Duncan really cares about you too, Anne,"
Amanda responds in a patronizing tone. Anne says she was talking
about Kenny. They both laugh. Amanda talks about her relation****p
with Kenny. Then she asks about Anne's pregnancy. Anne tells her
she's five months along. With Anne's permission, Amanda touches
Anne's belly, then asks "What's it like?" Anne says it's just like
the cliches say "Carrying a watermelon, walking like a duck." She
adds that the tough part will be after her daughter is born. She
hasn't figured out how to balance motherhood and her medical career
yet. "I'm sure you'll do great," says Amanda. Anne and Amanda smile
at each other. Anne says "Thanks."
In the final scene, Anne arrives in the elevator saying she still has
Duncan's elevator key. She and Amanda have planned to go out
together. Duncan feels very left out and frustrated because he'd
planned some horizontal mambo activities with Amanda. "We discovered
that we had a lot more in common than we realized," says Anne. Anne
and Amanda exit together arm in arm.

1)How does Anne feel about Duncan having discussed her with Amanda?
2)Is caffeine not high on Anne's hit list because she disputes the
findings about caffeine and pregnancy, or does she not care
about what effect caffeine might have on her baby? Do you think Anne
is behaving responsibly about her pregnancy?
3)Does Anne realize that Amanda is being patronizing when she says
"Well, I'm sure Duncan cares about you too, Anne." ? Would being
patronized bother Anne?
4)What does Anne have in common with Amanda? Do you think they spoke
about Duncan? Do you think Anne and Amanda have an ongoing
friend****p? Would Amanda have visited Anne after Mary was born?
