Two pairs of socks.  One thin pair (tight and close fitting) next to 
the skin and a thicker pair over them.  This is how hill-walkers and 
hikers avoid blisters.  Traditionally the thin pair should be knitted 
silk, but smooth silky nylon would work as well, I imagine.  The idea 
is that the slippage of the socks against each other means the shoes 
can't rub the feet and cause blisters.
