As a complete whim, I have started a program of watching HH episodes
and reporting anomalies or points of interest for the record/posterity.
If this bores anybody or takes up too much bandwith, please let me
know. Do what you want with my observations, but I'll save the notes
for future reference.
Watched tonight:
"Klink's Rocket" aired Dec. 16, 1966
Observations:
- Newkirk shuflling cards and Carter with test tube beginning
- Episodes starts with typical Appel. 20 inmates in Barracks 2
- Carter wearing an original B-6 jacket, (later episodes have him
wearing a 1960's replica)
- Schultz wearing M42 complete decal helmet, (some episodes have the
decal torn)
- Schultz's belt buckle is a WW1 ordnance buckle, (flaming bomb motif).
This is the typical buckle for Schultz. (Schultz does wear a correct LW
buckle in some episodes)
- Klink has the older model office with the side window, (later office
has more wall on the side with room for more photos. Window
disappears).
- Guard at Klink's office carries a FAKE MP40, (unusual). As usual, no
guard with an MP40 carries the correct magazine pouches. Instead all
guards carry post-war brown Mauser pouches, including Schultz.
GAFFS:
- British parachutist hung outside camp wearing early model US
parachute, (British chutes were far superior in the unlatching
department, using a circular latch that captured five straps and could
be released all at once. Many US paratroopers drowned or died in
D-Day/Normandy due to the lack of the British release latch).
- Schultz tells Hogan the crushed grapes are ready for the men in
Barracks 3, he means barracks 2, the traditional HH barracks.
- The German general, played by Harold Gould, (known for his portrayal
of a French Foreign Legion commando in "Dogs of War" and as the French
Archeologist Belogg in "Raiders of the Lost Arc") is wearing a Knight's
Cross, (Ritter Kreutz) over a tie!. The cross was a substitute for the
tie. These were never combined.
- The general is wearing an early LW eagle on his uniform. In this
episode, Klink wears a late pattern LW eagle.
- Klink's right collar rank insignia is missing a correct "bird" pip.
They used a small eagle from the typical iron cross, second class
ribbon to substitute it!!! (to see this eagle, look at Klinks and
Schultz's ribbons)(I can't believe I spotted that!).
If there is any interest in continuing this thread, please let me know.
I now have notes on three other episodes, which I will be glad to
contribute.
