There's been, for many years now, a website called JumptheShark.com that
discusses when a given TV show changes, and is never as good again as it
had been.
What would you say was that point for HLotS? That protracted Georgia Ray
Mahoney revenge thing culminating in Kellerman's resignation? The coming
of Falsone? The recycled mass shooting at end of Season 6? Lewis'
highlighted "moments" of overacting?
I think the show really loses its soul when Bayliss drops out of the
center at beginning of Season 7. Maybe actor Secor had other projects,
but the series seems to end when Bayliss' search for self ends, in his
confronting the sexually-abusive uncle. All of Season 7 has Bayliss
flapping in the breeze trying to re-ignite his story line with
alternative lifestyle stuff like Buddhism, vegetarianism and that
implausible bi-curious subplot.
The show's still good compared to most of what was on TV in 98-99, but
definitely running on fumes. Opinions?
