Bayliss says the figure of "Buddha" is not Buddha, but Hotye, which he
pronounces to rhyme with "bow tie."
There are many "Buddhas," of which this one, the plump guy with long
earlobes, is Happy Buddha, or Hotye. Pronounced "Ho-t'yeh." Wouldn't
he know this?
Regular Buddha is called Gautama, of whom Bayliss was apparently
thinking.
