I agree, they left a lot of good stuff out. My mother, who has not
read the books, found this movie confusing to follow along.
Some of the stuff that I would've loved to see from the book:
(1) Why didn't they include Lupin in the Order of the Phoenix (OotP)
crowd when they were flying him to their headquarters?
(2) They should've been more focus on Harry's reaction upon learning
that his father wasn't quite the blameless figure he had been led to
believe regarding Snape.
(3) Why couldn't they have included more scenes showing the staff and
students rebelling against Umbridge's reign of terror?
(4) It would've been cool to see Mad Eye Moody, Remus Lupin,
Nymphadora Tonks, and Arthur Weasley take on Vernon Dursely at the
end.
Yeah, it's not bad, but it could've been so much better - and a little
bit longer. :)
BTW, I just realized that David Yates, the Director of Movie 5, is the
same guy who directed the highly-regarded British series, State of
Play. I hope he does better when he takes on the next Harry Potter
film, Movie 6.
