Isn't that what most real cops are trained to do? So they don't
accidentally or reflexively touch a piece of evidence before donning
their gloves.

I always get annoyed when one of the "clear, clear" scenes pops up.
Sure, the intent is probably to show the investigators being in
possible peril. But can't we just imagine those time-wasting scenes
and get on with the show? Probably why I don't watch many procedural
shows.
