Actually, the whole Potterverse (to me) is like 19th Century England
with indoor plumbing, and Hogwarts seems to reflect those same kind of
behavioral limitations. No one swears (Mrs. Weasley gets to call
someone a bitch, but that's the strongest the language gets), none of
the teachers are married (and would be fired or leave if they did),
and no one goes beyond first base. This is probably why everyone gets
hooked up or married off so young.

As I've said before, the behavior of everyone in the Potterverse is
unrealistic when you compare it to modern people. You can't tell me
that kids exposed to TV, video games, movies, and other mass media
aren't going to bring those sensibilities with them. I'm thinking the
Room of Requirement and the Shrieking Shack (as well as the Inns at
Hogsmead) would be seeing a hell of a lot more action from teens with
raging hormones.

That's because there isn't any. No relationships or romantic pasts are
mentioned at all. Rowling couldn't even bother to give Hagrid a
girlfriend when she introduced Madame Maxime. (Yet another plot line
tossed in and forgotten.)

As far as Dumbledore goes, if she wanted to hint at (or mention) his
gayness, wouldn't she have brought it up in the discussions of
Grindlewald? Wouldn't Dumbledore have said something about
sacrificing love for the Greater Good? Or gotten philosophical about
love and its potenital? This is someone who beat you over the head
with the idea of love conquering all things, including great evil.
Yet he couldn't change Grindlewald through his own love? There's
massive irony (and inconsistency) there, and a few pages devoted to
that instead of the Most Boring Camping Trip Ever would have added
some depth to the book.

I hope not. Puce is a nasty color on anyone. But pink glitter could
work. ;)

If Rowling cared about "authenticity" on Dumbledore's sexuality as
much as she claims she now does, she (or the producers) should have
found a way to get Ian McKellan as Dumbledore from the start. No
offense at all to Richard Harris, who was fabulous, but I always
thought Ian McKellan would have been perfect as Dumbledore. And since
he's the only openly gay actor I can think of in that demographic, it
should have been automatic.
