People have noticed that when the series started Stabler had a son, but
that somehow the kid slipped beneath the floorboards and for years
Stabler only had daughters.
This week's episode Stabler happened to mention that he now has a grown
son who no longer lives with them.
Apparently they were responding to audience comments, online and
elsewhere, about the missing son, and also were looking for a new
backstory on which to build "Stabler" episodes, but the wife's recent
pregnancy was focused on whether Stabler would get a son, when it
appeared that he only had daughters.
Not disastrous for the series I suppose, but this backpedaling is
awkward.
