"I've got a friend at..."

by ElBob-O@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (robert armstrong) Feb 1, 2008 at 04:53 PM

Stabler says this on SVU rerun this past Tuesday when they need some
evidence traced to a location (or something): we hear that an awful lot,
don't we?

I think it was a device to explain how the research needed got jumped to
the head of the line the same day, when we know detective work like that
takes weeks or months.
It always sounds like they've never had a piece of evidence analyzed
before, that part of the detective's job is to be connected to effectual
people.

Is this the new TV cliche, like "Thanks but no thanks" in the 60s-70s,
or "You did your homework!" in the 80s?

"Aside from that, Mrs. Kennedy, how did you enjoy the motorcade?"
