Remember the episode...(I can't think of which one right now)...where
Lucy needs to use the phone and we find out that she has a "party line"?
The other party is using the phone, so Lucy tells Ethel about a trick
that's worked before; she picks up the phone and imitates the way the
two women speak, and says someone's at the door. They both hang up to
answer the door.
In this day of multiple phone lines per household, and cell phones
everywhere, would ANYONE younger than, what?, 50?, have any clue what a
PARTY LINE is?!
