I was convinced within the first five minutes of this battle that
Scheib would win. I've never seen a more focussed team on ICA than
Scheib's. I thought Scheib himself seemed oddly serene, while his
sous-chefs (especially the French one) exhibited demonic skills and
intensity. I didn't expect to find the show compelling, but Scheib's
team were great fun to watch. I thought, "These guys are worthy of
being on the original Iron Chef."
If my records are right, Cat Cora has now won 50% of her ICA battles.
Early on in the show, Kevin Brauch referred to Dungeness Crabs as
"dungeon crabs." Is that an abbreviation I haven't heard before -- or
a howler?
I wish that they would not have Kevin Brauch announce the rules before
every judging segment. It takes up unnecessary time that could be used
to show more cooking or judging. They could simply show this
information on the screen. Further, Brown *repeats* this information
right before the judgement is announced! It's really superfluous --
like Brauch's presence itself.
