But god cannot be good if he knowingly creates conditions which foster
evil.

But there is also a catch. We judge good and evil through the 
limitations of finite understanding and perceptions. What we think of as 
evil may be totally unrelated to what a deity may consider evil.

By our very being we live lives as existentialists because we cannot 
know anything for certain that we cannot subject to our form of 
empirical examination. Something that may seem evil in the short term 
may actually be an ultimate good if extended out a few eternities. I 
hope you are not vain enough to believe that what happens here on earth 
can possibly have any real consequence for eternity as a whole.
