Some campaigns do work - like the ones for "Farscape" and "Firefly", for
example - but they need to be well organised, financed a little and they
have to target the right people and organisations. Writing letters to CBS
alone is not going to accomplish much.

As I understand it, emails can be faked (one person can send countless
emails under different addresses so it's easy to skew numbers), letters
need
to be opened by someone, which leads to delays, and they may contain
undesirable substances. Postcards, OTOH, do not have either of those
problems.
