It would be a shame to can JYW, it was very interesting to compare
ealier versions of the program to the UK Scrapheap program and observe
the cultural differences between UK and US bodgers.
I was involved in last night's Drag Boats episode in a consulting role
and during the filming I could see that the new format for JYW wasn't
really working.
The new format resulted in much less productivity in the build area
and, although I've not seen any of the actual episodes (because I live
in NZ and it doesn't screen here) I gather from others that the actual
competition aspect has been less exciting because of this.
Having also been in Scrapheap, I was quite amazed at the difference
between the UK hosts (chatty and seemingly very interested in what was
going on) and the US hosts who appeared to simply be there to do their
job and then go home.
Lisa Rogers is the kind of girl who, although being incredibly short,
gives the impression that if you decided to take time out to have a
game of foodball, would be right in the middle with all the guys.
Bobi Sue looks a bit fragile and, while I'm sure she's a lovely
person, one gets the impression that she might not want to risk
breaking a nail or smudging her lipstick if offered the same
op****tunity to have a bit of fun.
Full credit to the production crew who are responsible for both
productions though. They are/were a great bunch of people who did
their jobs exceptionally well.
