Trans-world Jet Challenge

by Bruce Simpson <checksigformyre@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 13, 2004 at 09:44 PM

Hands up all those who'd like to see a Trans-world Jet Challenge
involving the following:

Chris Krug and Mark Nye (Experts on JYW Jet Trikes episode)
Myself and Nick Haddock (Experts on SHC Jet Racers episode)

The idea would be that each of the four experts would recruit their
own teams consisting of two other people and, with a fixed budget (say
US$2,000) they'd have to build a jet-powered vehicle from scratch.
The build would be done like Full Metal Challenge -- ie: in the teams'
own workshops in their country of origin rather than on a set.

This would ensure that the vehicles would all be operative on race-day
and that the competition would be very exciting (as opposed to filled
with breakdowns and problems).

The vehicles would then be shipped to the test track where they would
participate in several challenges, such as:

1. Tug of war
2. 1/4 mile drag
3. oval-lap racing
4. top speed shootout

Right now, the four experts concerned are really keen to get such a
challenge underway -- but are we just dreaming or do others think this
could be one hell of a JYW or SHC special?
