Strange -- my first VCR was a betamax, both for the quality and the
ability of pausing/resuming during recording without getting a burst of
noise . . .
But I think, over all, I prefer the British "Scrapheap" episodes to the
made in America "Junkyard" episodes. They just seem a bit 'funkier'. After
all, who can forget the Barley Pickers and the "Made in Britain with
British materials and British labour" stickers they slapped on their
creations?
Or the wonderful hopping Land Rover in the non-wheeled vehicle comp? Or
the first year Power Puller ep, with Bowser sitting like Ramses on his
throne during the pull?
Damn, I gotta go dig through my (ahem, VHS) video tapes again. I think
there's going to be a scrapheap orgy here.
