Has anybody seen the Animal Planet cable channel show, 'Chasing Nature'? I just caught the end of one show this weekend. There is no description on the channel's website, only an interactive game. Looks like the show is produced in Australia and has two teams designing to a challenge. This one was with two dune buggies on a dry lake bed. One buggy had a tear-away simulated animal hind-quarters and it was chased by another buggy with a clawed arm that was supposed to simulate a lion chasing and taking down a running animal. The two teams designed differing clawed arms to take down the 'animal'. One had an up/down movement while the other had a sideways swiping motion. The lead buggy with the 'animal' was driven by the produciton crew. The lion chase buggy was alternately driven by each of the teams with their clawed arms attached. From what I saw of it, I would still recommend 'Design Squad' over 'Chasing Nature' A few good quotes and information about the show on the internet: http://news-service.stanford.edu/news/2005/august24/chasing-082405.html "Reality TV is a lot less real than you think," says team member David Lu. "There were some scenes that we had to tape 12 times." Reminds me of all the flack about 'seeding' the junkyard.... http://news-service.stanford.edu/pr/2005/pr-animal-120705.html http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/01/26/BAGHRGT0GF1.DTL http://www.smu.edu/smunews/adventures/students/emerson.asp http://www.pratt.duke.edu/pratt_press/web.php?sid=291&iid=33 http://www.coe.berkeley.edu/engnews/Fall05/EN14F/natural.html http://control.mae.cornell.edu/sherback/photoalbum/AustraliaTheShow/AustraliaTheShow.htm http://ucsdnews.ucsd.edu/thisweek/2005/dec/12_12_reality.asp
