Vdownloader will put a temporary file in the same directory your specify
for
the output file. The tempory file has no file extension and after the
download is complete, vdownloader will then convert the downloaded
temporary
file to the requested format. When that is finished, the temporary file is
automatically deleted. Here comes the sleight of hand now. The temporary
file was about 700meg (don't try this without broadband) and while it was
converting, I copied it and pasted a copy. Since the download came from
the
divx.com site, was a no brainer to rename the copy with a .divx extension.
This plays with Nero showtime or Windows Media Player (as long as you get
the free divx codec from www.divx.com ). This at least left me with a
stable
copy of the show in divx format.
Just as a figure of merrit, the original divx was 700meg, Mpeg was 1.5gig
and an avi format was 2.5gig.
For video from youtube or google video, the native filetype is usually
.flv
(flash video).
