Neither of which were supposed to have *futuristic* cars.

Perhaps if you need a flashback to feature the Trans Am, sure. But if
it's set in present day (or near future), then quite frankly, basing
it on a car from a fair amount into the last century is going to look
stupid.

Prepare to be disappointed. Unless it's set in the 80s, there's *no
way* that KITT will be a 1982 Trans Am.
