I agree.  In Knight Rider Legacy, Glen Larson says that he considers KITT 
the control system / personality to be distinct from the Knight Industries

Two Thousand.  Remember the Season 2 episode where KITT is removed from
the 
car and placed in a portable unit?  Then there is Knight Rider 2000, where

KITT is in the Chevy (?).  Sorry; don't have my reference book at hand.

But the point remains: KITT could be installed into any car, and it still
be 
Knight Rider.

"Dukes Of Hazzard" got made.  If a movie that bad can get made, why not a 
decent Knoght Rider?
