As it happens, here in the UK, the season 2 episode "Soul Survivor",
has just been on. That's the one where KITT gets separated from his
Trans-Am shell and gets put into a TV/Radio shaped thing for a while.
The Trans-Am itself is controlled by the computer geek kid, in an
attempt to rob some paintings or somesuch.

You should pop that DVD in and watch that episode again, and then you
might come to terms with the idea that KITT can be put into a more
current day car model, and still be KITT. I think the worst difference
to KITT's character would be if they couldn't get William Daniels to
do the voice again.
