No way. They actually jumped the Trans Am's. Some were just shells of a
Trans Am (which you could definitely tell), and some yes were small
models,
but they still used actual Trans Am's whenever they could. Take a look at
the blooper real's on the Net. You can probably find them on Youtube.
Some
of those cars got smashed pretty good. Actually, there is a "bonus" part
in
the Season One DVD set called "Knight Moves" where Jack Gill, who was the
primary stunt coordinator was interviewed. He tells of all the jumps they
did, all the different cars they used (some for chase scenes, some for
burn
outs, some were computer controlled, some were just for show), and reveals
that he has a titanium plate in his neck from his spine compressing after
each jump he did. He even talks about the Semi stunts, where KITT would
back out of the Semi. He says that was actually a Trans Am backing out of
a
Semi, going down the road at 50 MPH, and he ripped off a few mirrors
during
the series's run.
