At first I thought this ep was way over the top.
But then I figured they were trying to make a point. About how the
law can be abused.
Maybe part of that was the fireman's attempt to justify his actions by
trying to say that he was making a statement. Somehow I don't think a
free speech defense is going to work for him. His lawyer should have
prepped him better than that.
No doubt if the jury had acquitted it would have been called
nullification. But if what those goons were being accused of was
terrorism then they probably should have been acquitted. Even though
there were innocent bystanders. No wonder the jury was still
deliberating after five days.
However, did it seem strange to anyone that Jack rethought his
position and accepted pleas? Maybe even he thought the charges were
overreaching. The old Jack would have been accusing the defendant's
lawyers of something. I thought it was out of character.
Next time he'll get them on RICO. Maybe that would stick.
I admit I was thoubled by this ep.
