Don't the DA's Have Their Own Detectives?

On L&O after the initial detectives have apprehended the perp later they
will still be seen doing grunt work. Sometimes even an ADA is seen doing
grunt work.

But if I remember that short-lived L&O spin-off that Lennie was in a
couple of episodes - wasn't he working as a detective for the DA's
office?
