The whole concept of "discreet powers" is a ridiculous plot device
though. The powers aren't an add-on: Clark is a Kryptonian.
Transferring powers essentially means Clark turns into an Earthman and
somebody else turns into a Kryptonian. And Clark simply losing his
powers turns him into an Earthman. Why not a Martian? Makes as much
sense.
