I completely agree. The whole idea of powers as something you can
transfer from one person to another (like pouring liquid from one
container to another) and back again annoys the hell out of me. Clark
is superhumanly strong/fast/tough/whatever because, well, his genes make
him that way. They're as much a part of him as his internal organs, and
ought to be just as difficult to steal.
Suppress his powers? Sure. Kryptonite does that real well.
Steal his powers? No, thanks. I don't buy it. I never have.
But if you put a stop to such things, have the plots for the show would
have to be abandoned.
