SMALLVILLE is a different series. They aren't obligated to follow
LOIS & CLARK's continuity any more than either show is obligated
(beyond a point) to follow the continuity of the comics.
It's akin to complaining that LOIS & CLARK had Jonathan Kent still
alive after Clark became Superman when in the Chris Reeve movies,
he died before then.
SMALLVILLE has differed from previous Superman continuity in so
many ways already that adding a Jimmy Olsen who's possibly older
than Clark and Lois isn't even worth worrying about.
