This show is weak enough as it is. If you constrain them to doing
everything exactly like the comics or the previous Superman shows, it
will get even more boring.
Just accept that it's an alternate universe where Clark meets Jimmy and
Lois early. Isn't there more important things to worry about than the
continuity of Smallville (a show that will likely be dead in a year or
two). The only thing keeping Smallville alive is that the CW has
nothing better and needs to fill time.
