The writers felt that it would make the finale "bigger" if Chloe jumped
Clark.

The hillarious thing about it is: Clark looked totally
disinterested/bored. Then he left Chloe alone to face the mob (even
after catching a car that broke through the wall minutes earlier LOL).
Great friend that Clark is.. "Ok, Chloe, so you can't fix the Fine
virus, see you later, have fun getting gang raped by the mob outside".
