Superman and Clark.

same reasons why many romance stories have the protagonist liking a
girl who likes someone else, but by the time the movie ends, the two
people that we figured should be together, are together, whereas the
boyfriend that was dumped, usually is portrayed negatively so we don't
feel so bad for him when he's alone at the end of movie.
