I don't think the crew of the boat are out to kill the Losties
directly.
I believe Ben, that if the people of the Boat show up then everyone
gets killed. But I think it's more of an indirect way. In other words,
the people of the boat show up, and whatever interaction occurs
between the boat people and the Losties, these actions LEAD to the
subsequent people on the island getting killed or whatever Ben fears
will happen.
Maybe they ARE there to rescue the Losties in some way, but the ISLAND
doesnt want the people getting rescued, so maybe its the Island or
Jacob that kills the Losties. I am sure this is not a new theory and
i'm not saying it is, i'm just trying to piece things together.
And if Ben knows this, why doesn't he just say it instead of beating
around the bush and being cryptic? For the sake of plot?
instead of "if you contact that boat everyone on this island will die"
he could say - "if you contact that boat, the island will do whatever
it takes to kill everyone because it doesn't want anyone to leave."
of course that would ruin the story/plot and give up way too much. but
still...
And if that's not Penny's boat why does Naomi have Desmond's photo?
Who are the boat people? A secret crew sent by Dharma/Oceanic to see
if there are Others/Survivors left and to then "deal" with them?
